81st Annual Dixie Amateur Championship
December 7-10, 2011

Heron Bay Golf Club
Coral Springs, FL

The Dixie Senior Championship is a 54 Hole Stroke-Play format that will be held on the Heron Bay Golf Club, Home of the PGA TOUR’S Honda Classic from 1997-2002, in Coral Springs Florida.

54 Hole Stroke Play – (no cut)

  • December 7th: Practice Round.
  • December 8th: Round One.
  • December 9th: Round Two.
  • December 10th: Final Round.

This year the Senior Division will receive points towards National Rankings by Scratch Players and Golfweek Magazine.

Contestants are responsible for being at the first tee no later than 10 minutes prior to your assigned tee time.

 

Senior Championship

In 25 mile an hour winds at Heron Bay Golf Club Rick Woulfe of Ft. Lauderdale, FL held on to win his sixth Senior Dixie Amateur by one shot over Bob Burton of Scottsdale, AZ. Burton’s 70 was one shot short of catching Woulfe who took a five stroke lead into the final round. Woulfe’s victory was his seventh Dixie Amateur win when you include his Open victory which included a match play win over Tiger Woods in the semifinals in 1992.

Evan Long of Charlotte, NC took 3rd place with a 219 total, one stroke ahead of Doug Savage of Mt. Vernon, Ohio.

In the Super Senior Dixie Amateur 2010 Super Senior winner, Bill Dorece of Pompano Beach, Fl lead from start to finish and posted a three round total of 216 which included a blistering 68 in the first round. Walt Martin of Oakton, VA and Gary Shimmin of Oakatie, SC tied for second place at 220 and Henry Schinman of West Orange, NJ took 4th with a score of 223.
